Over the past few months, District administration and our Board of Education have been diligently reviewing our budget for the 2025-2026 school year, as you have seen in our local media. As with any budget, there are always challenges, but we are committed to meeting our obligations to our community by providing a well-rounded educational program for our students while taking our role as financial stewards of the community seriously.
That being said, as I write this update on April 9, the New York State budget is late—it is always due on April 1. Additionally, there have been various concerns from the federal level regarding possible funding restrictions. New York State public schools are essentially in a ping-pong match with New York State and the federal government. As Superintendent and Board members, our role is to advocate, observe, and respond appropriately, and we are fulfilling that responsibility. Despite these challenges, our Board is scheduled to approve the 2025-2026 budget at the Monday, April 21 meeting, which will then be presented to our community for a vote on Tuesday, May 20. Between then and now, more detailed information will be provided to our community. As always, we appreciate your support of all that is BCSD.
