Early morning snow closings are dictated by weather bulletins out of Buffalo, reports from the Highway and Sheriff’s Departments, reported conditions of City sidewalks, and actual road observations done by STA (Student Transportation of America). When there is a warning, we begin this process before 5 A.M. A decision to close schools is required before 6:30 A.M. Surprise storms compress the stress of time.
The following media will be informed of closings as early as possible:
WBTA – 1490 [Batavia]
WHAM – 1180 [Rochester]
WBEN – 930 [Buffalo]
WGRZ-TV – Channel 2 [Buffalo]
WKBW-TV – Channel 7 [Buffalo]
WOKR-TV – Channel 13 [Rochester]
Our new School Messenger service will notify each family in the district and our staff members in the event of a school closing or an early dismissal.
Please listen to the above sources for the latest closing information, and avoid calling the schools, administration office, radio and television stations. In addition, school closings will be posted on this website.
During bad weather, the decision is sometimes made to cancel school activities and athletic events that are scheduled for afternoon, evening, or weekends. Media and School Messenger will be used to notify families.
